Surgery has a vital role in treating cancer. This helps us diagnose, understand its progression, manage symptoms, and prevent it from recurring or spreading. We provide a wide range of surgical oncology procedures at the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre with evidence-based management, use the latest techniques and the best available resources to increase success outcomes for our patients.
Collaborative discussions with radiation oncologists, pathologists, and radiologists of the Multispecialty Tumor Board ensures that every patient receives a thorough, personalized treatment plan that is of international standards of care.
We continuously expand our treatment offerings for treating cancer. This includes focused procedures for cancers affecting the liver and bile ducts (hepatobiliary), chest (thoracic), bones and soft tissues (sarcoma-musculoskeletal), head and neck, and female reproductive organs (gynecologic). Meanwhile, we remain dedicated to treating colorectal, breast, endocrine, and genitourinary cancers. Our goal is to deliver the full surgical pathway: diagnosis and staging, reconstruction, rehabilitation and palliative support.
Besides the clinical work, the department is currently developing an evidence-based surgical oncology research program, actively researching and analyzing new operating room technologies. We are developing a specific Surgical Oncology training program for future cancer surgeons.
Through collaboration with local oncology centers in the area, we aim to bring high-quality cancer care nearer to home, where it is convenient and continuous and of the highest standards in quality.
